Digital Isolators

About Digital Isolators

When an SPI bus crosses the boundary between a 3.3 V microcontroller domain and a 400 V inverter stage, a digital isolator carries the logic bits across a galvanic barrier without a single shared electron. Capacitive and magnetic (GMR) coupling technologies have largely displaced optocouplers for high-speed, multi-channel designs thanks to superior CMTI, propagation delay, and power efficiency. Engineers compare channel count, data rate, isolation voltage, working voltage, and creepage distance. Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, Silicon Labs, and NVE supply the most widely specified families. Download datasheets and request BOM quotes.
