The SI8641BB-B-IS is a 4-channel general-purpose digital isolator from the Si864x family, using capacitive coupling to transfer signals across a 2500 Vrms isolation barrier at up to 150 Mbps. The 13 ns propagation delay (max) and 2.5 ns rise/fall times let it handle high-speed SPI, UART, or CAN bus signals without adding timing margin headaches — the 4.5 ns pulse-width distortion keeps the duty cycle intact through the barrier. The 35 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) means this part stays latched when a motor drive or inverter switches — common-mode noise that would glitch an optocoupler passes through the capacitive coupling without corrupting the data. Industrial temp range (-40°C to 125°C) covers engine bays, solar inverters, and factory-floor PLC racks.
Channel allocation and supply flexibility
Three channels on side 1, one on side 2 — unidirectional, so the data flow direction is fixed at layout time. No isolated power output — this is a signal isolator only. The 16-SOIC wide body (7.50 mm width) gives 8 mm creepage between the two sides, enough for basic functional isolation in most industrial designs. For 5 kVrms reinforced isolation, the SI8641BD-B-IS (same pinout, same speed) is the drop-in upgrade.
