8 A, 200 V, 35 ns — the BOM-fit numbers
The STTH802SFY is a standard fast-recovery diode rated for 8 A average rectified current and 200 V reverse voltage, with a 35 ns reverse recovery time. That 35 ns trr keeps the switching losses low in a 50–100 kHz PFC boost stage or a freewheeling leg of a DC-DC converter — the diode recovers before the MOSFET turns on, so the reverse-recovery spike stays contained. AEC-Q101 qualification means it passed the automotive-grade stress tests — 175 °C junction temperature rating, high-temperature reverse bias, and temperature cycling. This is the qualification level Tier-1 automotive suppliers require for PPAP submission on engine-control or battery-management modules.
Package and thermal path
The pad is the cathode terminal — the PCB copper area under it sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance. Surface-mount assembly with MSL (moisture sensitivity level) per the ECOPACK®2 rating — standard reflow profile, no bake required if the sealed dry pack is unopened. Tape-and-reel packaging for automated pick-and-place.
Leakage and reverse bias
Reverse leakage is 6 µA at 200 V and 25 °C junction. This doubles roughly every 10 °C rise — at 125 °C junction it is around 200 µA, still negligible for a 200 V rail but worth factoring into the standby power budget of a continuously biased rectifier.
