What the 650 V / 6 A / 280 mOhm spec means for your PFC or flyback stage
The IPA60R280CFD7XKSA1: The 650 V drain-source rating gives you 50 V of margin above a typical 600 V bus — handy for universal-input PFC stages where the bulk cap can ring up to 620 V during a load dump or line surge. The 6 A continuous drain at 25 °C case is the thermal limit in the full-pak package; in a real 85 °C ambient the current derates, but for a 150 W flyback primary or a 200 W interleaved PFC leg, this part carries the peak current without breaking a sweat.
Package and mounting — the full-pak advantage
That saves assembly time and improves thermal transfer by eliminating the interface layer. The tab is plastic overmolded, so the thermal resistance junction-to-case is higher than a standard TO-220 (24 W max dissipation vs maybe 80 W for the standard), but the isolation is guaranteed to 2.5 kV. Mounting hole is the standard TO-220 centre tab hole; heatsink clips work as long as they don't short the tab to ground.
Active lifecycle and compliance — no surprises
ROHS3 compliant, so no exemption-based restrictions for EU or China RoHS markets.
