Texas Instruments has marked the LM2903D as Obsolete. RoHS3 compliance is maintained on the remaining inventory, so no additional exemption paperwork is needed for EU or UKCA markets.
This wide compliance range means it works in 5V logic systems, 12V automotive rails, and 24V industrial buses without a separate regulator — the same comparator serves across the BOM. An engine-bay ECU or outdoor sensor node that sees 105°C ambient still has margin before the die hits the absolute-max junction.
Output stage and input parametrics
Open-collector rail-to-rail output lets the comparator drive loads referenced to a different supply rail — a 3.3V logic input can be switched from a 12V-powered comparator without a level translator. Typical output current is 20mA, enough to drive an LED indicator or a small relay coil through a transistor buffer. For a threshold-detection circuit with a 10kΩ source impedance, the bias current contributes 2.5mV of additional offset — within the 7mV budget for most window comparators. Two comparator elements in the 8-SOIC package — the dual layout saves board space compared to two single comparators while keeping the same pin pitch for routing.
