Dual automotive comparator with wide supply range
It operates over a -40°C to 125°C temperature range and accepts a single or dual supply from 2V to 36V, covering 5V logic, 12V automotive, and 24V truck rails without a separate regulator. The open-collector, rail-to-rail output stage allows level-shifting to any logic family with a pull-up resistor.
Key parametric decisions for the BOM
With a maximum quiescent current of 600µA per device, this comparator is suited for always-on sensor monitors in automotive ECUs where the supply budget is tight. The 300ns typical propagation delay is fast enough for overcurrent or overvoltage fault detection in power-train and body-control modules, but not for high-speed switching loops — that is a decision point if the application needs sub-100ns response. Input bias current maxes at 0.025µA at 5V and input offset at 2.5mV at 5V, both tight enough for precision window comparators on analog sensor outputs (e.g., throttle position, exhaust pressure) without external offset trim. The 21mA typical output current at 5V drives an optocoupler or a logic gate input directly.
