Core and memory budget for a 125°C node controller
The STM8S208S6T3C runs the 8-bit STM8 core at 24 MHz — enough throughput for a CAN node aggregating sensor data or a LIN slave managing an actuator. Program memory is 32 KB of flash (32K x 8), with 6K x 8 of SRAM for the stack and buffers, plus 1.5K x 8 of EEPROM for calibration constants or fault logs that survive a power cycle. On-chip brown-out reset, POR, and watchdog reduce the external supervisor count to zero for most designs.
Peripheral set and connectivity for industrial nodes
Connectivity includes CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, IrDA, and UART/USART — the typical set for an industrial sensor hub or a body-control module talking on a CAN bus and reporting to a central gateway. 34 I/O lines are available for local switches, LEDs, or a small character display. The 9-channel 10-bit ADC reads analog sensors (thermistors, potentiometers, 4-20 mA current loops) without an external converter.
Temperature grade and package for harsh environments
The 44-LQFP package (10x10 mm body) is a standard 0.8 mm pitch — a two-layer board can fan it out without blind vias.
