8-bit MCU for cost-sensitive control applications
The part integrates a 5-channel 10-bit ADC, a full set of timers with PWM, and wired interfaces including I²C, SPI, UART, LIN, and IrDA.
Memory and peripheral budget — what fits
The 4 KB Flash and 1 KB RAM are the hard constraints for firmware size. For comparison, a UART bootloader plus a simple state machine for a fan controller leaves about 2 KB free for application code. The 5-channel 10-bit ADC covers analog inputs like potentiometers or thermistors.
ST continues to manufacture the STM8S family, so there is no near-term end-of-life risk for production BOM lines. The part is ROHS3 compliant.
