Low-side switching for automotive loads
The BTS3011TEATMA1 is a single-channel low-side N-channel power switch from Infineon's automotive-grade portfolio, qualified to AEC-Q100. A typical 10.7 mOhm Rds(on) at 25 °C keeps conduction losses low — at 10 A the dissipation is just over 1 W, which the TO-252-5 package's exposed tab can sink into a board copper plane.
Protection set and switching behavior
Fault protection covers over-current, over-voltage, and short-circuit events — the switch enters a safe state without latching off, so a transient overload on a solenoid or bulb inrush clears itself when the fault subsides. The non-inverting input and 1:1 ratio means the output follows the logic pin; no extra inversion stage needed in the gate drive path. Because the output is a low-side N-channel FET, the load connects between the battery rail and the drain pin. The source ties to ground through the package tab — the PCB layout must keep the tab's thermal pad at a low-impedance ground plane to carry both the return current and the heat.
The supplier device package is designated PG-TO252-5; the footprint matches standard DPak land patterns, but the fifth pin (center-left) carries the Vcc supply and must be routed separately from the load current. The base product number is BTS3011, so the same die in alternate package variants shares this root.
