What this isolated gate driver delivers
The Infineon 1ED020I12F2XUMA1 is a single-channel isolated gate driver from the EiceDriver™ family, built with magnetic coupling technology to provide 4500Vrms galvanic isolation between the input control side and the output power stage. It delivers 2A peak source and sink current, making it suitable for driving medium-power IGBTs and MOSFETs in motor drives, inverters, and industrial power supplies.
The 4500Vrms isolation rating is the spec that defines the safety barrier between the low-voltage controller and the high-voltage power stage. In a 3-phase motor drive or solar inverter, this margin handles transient overvoltages and meets reinforced insulation requirements for IEC 61800-5-1 and similar standards. The magnetic coupling approach avoids the aging drift seen in optocoupler-based designs, so the isolation holds over the product's service life.
2A peak gate drive — sizing the output stage
With 2A peak output current on both the high and low sides, this driver can charge and discharge the gate capacitance of IGBT modules in the 50A to 200A range at switching frequencies up to several tens of kilohertz. The 30ns typical rise time and 50ns fall time give clean switching edges without excessive ringing, provided the gate loop inductance is kept under control. The 4.5V to 5.5V output supply range means it can be powered from a standard 5V bias rail, simplifying the auxiliary supply design.
Package and mounting
It is surface-mount only, so the PCB layout must accommodate the 1.27mm pitch SOIC footprint. The wide-body SOIC provides the creepage distance needed to maintain the 4500Vrms isolation rating across the package.
Lifecycle and compliance
No LTB window or successor part has been announced.
