1% shunt reference in a TO-92 — what it delivers
The Texas Instruments TLV431AILPRE3 is an adjustable shunt voltage reference with a ±1% tolerance — the precision that sets the output voltage accuracy for the whole rail. It regulates down to a minimum cathode current of 80 µA, so the bias resistor can be sized for low-power operation without losing regulation. Output current is rated to 15 mA, enough to drive the feedback divider and a small load in a shunt regulator or series-pass configuration. The 1.24 V minimum output and 6 V maximum output cover the common low-voltage reference range for power supplies, battery chargers, and supervisory circuits.
