Mono audio codec for voice-band signal chains
The AD74111YRUZ-REEL7 is a mono audio codec from Analog Devices, built around a sigma-delta modulator architecture. It integrates one 24-bit ADC and one 24-bit DAC on a single die, handling the encode-decode path for a single audio channel. The serial data interface keeps the pin count low, fitting into a 16-TSSOP package that occupies roughly 5 mm × 4.4 mm on the board — a footprint suited for space-constrained portable or embedded audio stages.
The ADC path delivers 77 dB SNR and 85 dB dynamic range typical; the DAC path delivers 89 dB SNR and 93 dB dynamic range typical. These figures sit in the range of a voice-grade codec — adequate for telephony, intercom, two-way radio, or basic audio recording where the signal bandwidth is limited to the speech band and the noise floor requirement is not hi-fi. The 24-bit resolution on both the ADC and DAC means the digital word length does not limit the dynamic range — the analog front-end and the sigma-delta modulator set the noise floor, not the bit depth. For a voice application with a 50 dB SNR requirement, the codec's 77 dB ADC SNR leaves roughly 27 dB of margin before the noise floor becomes audible.
The operating temperature range spans -40°C to 105°C, covering industrial and extended-industrial environments. This makes it a candidate for outdoor telecom equipment, automotive cabin audio (non-safety), or industrial control panels where the ambient temperature inside the enclosure can exceed 85°C.
