Dual-zone digital temperature monitor with programmable alert
The Texas Instruments LM84BIMQAX/NOPB is a digital temperature sensor that monitors both local (on-chip) and remote (external diode-connected transistor) zones, outputting readings over an SMBus interface. The Output Switch and Programmable Limit features let the sensor assert an alert pin when a measured temperature exceeds a user-set threshold, offloading the host from continuous polling — useful in server thermal management or industrial controller chassis where early over-temperature notification prevents system shutdown.
Supply and interface fit for 3.3 V logic systems
The remote sensing channel connects to a diode-connected transistor (e.g., a CPU or FPGA thermal diode) via two PCB traces; the local channel measures the sensor's own die temperature. Both channels share the same 0°C to 125°C sensing range, covering the thermal envelope of most enclosed electronics.
Active production with full compliance documentation
The device is ROHS3 compliant, meeting the latest EU restriction-of-hazardous-substances directive for lead-free assembly. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) for volume production and Cut Tape (CT) for prototyping or low-volume builds.
