Quad comparator with automotive temperature range
The Texas Instruments LM2901AVQDRQ1 is a quad differential comparator from the Automotive, AEC-Q100 series, packing four independent comparator channels into a single 14-SOIC package. Each comparator compares two analog input voltages and outputs a logic-level signal, making it the go-to building block for threshold detection, window comparators, zero-crossing detectors, and sensor signal conditioning in automotive and industrial control systems. The -40°C to 125°C operating temperature range covers the full automotive ambient envelope — from a cold crank in a northern winter to the under-hood heat soak on a summer highway — with margin for self-heating inside the enclosure.
Supply flexibility and output interface
The supply range spans 2V to 36V on a single rail, or ±1V to ±18V with dual supplies — so the same comparator works in a 5V microcontroller system, a 12V automotive module, or a 24V industrial PLC without a separate regulator.
Precision specs for threshold detection
Maximum input offset voltage is 2mV at 5V supply — this sets the smallest detectable voltage difference between the two inputs. For a 12V battery monitor, 2mV of offset translates to roughly 0.02% of the full-scale reading, well below the resolution needed for over-voltage or under-voltage detection. Quiescent current is capped at 2.5mA max for all four comparators combined — about 0.6mA per channel. In an automotive body controller that stays awake monitoring a door switch, this keeps the module's sleep current within the OEM's 100µA budget when the comparator is powered down between events.
ROHS3 compliant — the part meets the latest EU restriction on hazardous substances, clearing it for global shipment into RoHS-regulated markets without exemption paperwork. The AEC-Q100 qualification means the device has passed the automotive-grade stress tests: high-temperature operating life (HTOL), temperature cycling, ESD robustness, and latch-up immunity — the same reliability screening used by Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
