Charge current, fault protection, and programmable control
The charge current is constant and programmable via an external resistor, with a maximum of 1.5A — enough to charge a typical 2000 mAh automotive-grade Li-ion cell in under 90 minutes at full rate. Built-in fault protection covers over-temperature, over-voltage, reverse current, and short-circuit conditions — the IC shuts down the pass FET and signals the host before the battery or wiring sees damage.
