16-bit MCU with 256 KB flash for industrial control
The Renesas UPD78F1156AGC-GAD-AX is a 16-bit microcontroller from the 78K0R/Kx3 series, built around the 78K/0R core running at 20 MHz. The 80-LQFP package provides 65 general-purpose I/O lines, enough to interface with a keypad, a small character display, and a handful of sensors or actuators without external port expanders.
Temperature range and supply tolerance for factory-floor reliability
On-chip peripherals include DMA, LVD, POR, PWM, and WDT — the watchdog and brown-out reset alone reduce the need for external supervisor ICs in safety-conscious designs.
Connectivity and analog integration
The UPD78F1156AGC-GAD-AX integrates 3-wire SIO, I²C, LINbus, and UART/USART interfaces, covering the common serial protocols for sensor hubs, motor drive feedback, and LIN-node applications in automotive-adjacent designs. The 8-channel 10-bit ADC and dual 8-bit DAC allow direct connection to analog sensors and actuators — a thermistor front-end or a small-signal amplifier output can feed the ADC without an external converter.
