Isolation and CTR — the two numbers that decide the fit
The RV1S2285ACCSP-10YC#SC0 is a single-channel optocoupler from Renesas in the 4-SOP (7.50 mm wide) package, offering 5000 Vrms isolation — enough for reinforced insulation in mains-referenced circuits where the working voltage stays under 300 Vrms and the transient peaks need a clean barrier. Its current transfer ratio spans 50% to 400% at 5 mA forward current — a wide spread that gives the designer room to budget LED aging. The LED fades, so design for it: starting at the minimum CTR with a 20% aging headroom over 10 years keeps the output logic state from drifting into the undefined zone.
AC/DC input and switching speed
The input side accepts both AC and DC drive, so the same part serves in rectified-line sensing or DC-logic isolation — no need to stock a separate AC-input variant. Typical forward voltage is 1.15 V, and the max continuous forward current is 30 mA. Rise and fall times are 4 µs and 5 µs typical — fast enough for 50/60 Hz zero-cross detection, relay coil feedback, or low-speed isolated data at a few kHz. The output transistor can sink up to 30 mA per channel and block up to 80 V.
Rated from -40°C to 115°C operating ambient, this optocoupler fits industrial control cabinets, outdoor telecom rectifiers, and HVAC sensor interfaces where the enclosure sees summer heat soak. The 4-LSSOP body is a low-profile surface-mount package — the 7.50 mm width keeps creepage distance adequate for 5000 Vrms isolation on a standard PCB. Lifecycle status is active and the part is ROHS3 compliant — no end-of-life watch for current designs.
