Single-channel optocoupler for isolated signal transfer
The Renesas NEPOC PS2565L1-1-A is a single-channel transistor-output optocoupler in a 4-DIP through-hole package. It provides 5000Vrms isolation between input and output, with an AC/DC input type and a phototransistor output rated for 80V and 50mA. The current transfer ratio spans 80% to 400% at a forward current of 5mA, and the device operates from -55°C to 100°C. Typical applications include industrial PLC I/O isolation, motor-drive feedback, and medical power-supply signal conditioning where reinforced isolation is required.
The 5000Vrms isolation rating supports reinforced insulation for a 250V working voltage.
CTR range and drive margin
The CTR is specified as 80% minimum and 400% maximum at 5mA forward current. That wide spread means the LED drive current can be set at 5mA and still guarantee the output transistor saturates with a 1kΩ pull-up to 5V. If the design uses a lower LED current (e.g., 1mA for power saving), the CTR at that point is not guaranteed — the datasheet only gives the 5mA condition. For designs that need a tighter CTR bin, the PS2565L1-1-A is a single-bin part; no bin-code suffix is listed, so expect the full 80-400% range.
Renesas lists the PS2565L1-1-A as Active. The part is ROHS3 compliant. If you are qualifying a second source, the PS2801C-4-V-A is a four-channel surface-mount alternative with 2500Vrms isolation — not a pin-for-pin drop-in, but a functional alternative for multi-channel designs that can accept a smaller isolation rating.
