40 V, 90 A N-Channel MOSFET for power rails and motor drives
The NP89N04PUK-E1-AY: This part targets low-voltage power conversion — synchronous rectification in 12 V and 24 V DC-DC stages, load switches, and motor-drive half-bridges where the 40 V ceiling provides margin for a 24 V bus. The 2.95 mOhm maximum on-resistance at 45 A with a 5 V gate drive means the part can be driven directly from a 5 V logic supply or a basic gate driver without a boost stage, keeping the BOM simple in low-voltage designs.
Gate charge and switching profile
Total gate charge is 102 nC at 10 V gate drive. The 5850 pF input capacitance at 25 V drain-source means the driver output impedance should be kept below a few ohms to avoid slow edges and cross-conduction in a bridge leg. Without that thermal path, the 90 A rating is unreachable.
Package and mounting
The TO-263-3 (D²Pak) with two leads plus a tab is a standard surface-mount power package. The exposed drain tab requires a thermal pad on the PCB — a solid copper pour under the tab with vias to an inner-layer ground plane is the expected layout for the 90 A continuous rating. The gate threshold is 4 V maximum at 250 µA drain current, so a 5 V or 10 V gate supply is needed.
