The N0413N-ZK-E1-AY: The N0413N-ZK--AY: The N0413N-ZK--AY is a 40 V, 100 A N-channel MOSFET in a TO-263 (D²Pak) surface-mount package, built on a standard planar MOSFET process. The 100 nC total gate charge at 10 V means a 100 kHz switching frequency draws 10 mA average from the gate driver — a standard 1 A driver handles it easily, but the gate loop inductance must be kept under 10 nH to avoid ringing.
Thermal design: the 1.5 W vs 119 W split
The power dissipation spec tells the layout engineer the thermal path is everything: 1.5 W max at 25 °C ambient with no heatsink, but 119 W at the case when the exposed pad is soldered to a large copper plane. The TO-263 (D²Pak) package has a metal tab on the top — that tab is the drain, and the PCB copper area under it sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance. For continuous 50 A operation, expect a 2 oz copper pour of at least 25 cm² on the top layer with thermal vias to an inner plane. The 150 °C maximum junction temperature is the hard ceiling — derate the continuous current above 100 °C case temperature per the datasheet's normalized curve.
