Battery monitor for 3-8 series cells
The ISL94203IRTZ-T7A is a multi-chemistry battery monitor from Renesas that handles 3 to 8 series-connected cells, making it suitable for Li-ion, LiFePO4, or other chemistries in a single BMS design. Communication with the host microcontroller runs over an I2C interface, which allows the system to read cell voltages, configure protection thresholds, and retrieve fault status without dedicated SPI lines.
Fault protection and temperature range
On-chip fault protection covers overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, and short-circuit conditions — the four events that most commonly damage a Li-ion pack or trigger a safety shutdown.
Package and thermal pad layout
The tape-and-reel and cut-tape options cover both production reels and prototype quantities; the cut-tape variant is typical for engineering samples or low-volume builds.
The device is ROHS3 compliant, which satisfies the EU RoHS exemption regime for lead-free soldering processes without additional exemption paperwork.
