Product details

1.5A synchronous buck in a 2x3 DFN

The ISL8009AIRZ-T is a 1.5A step-down buck converter from Renesas, switching at 1.6 MHz with an integrated synchronous rectifier. The high switching frequency lets the designer use a smaller inductor and output capacitor than a 500 kHz part would require, saving board area in a point-of-load rail. Input range is 2.7V to 5.5V, and the adjustable output goes from 0.8V up to the input voltage. That covers the common 3.3V and 5V intermediate buses, plus sub-1V core rails for low-voltage logic.

Package and thermal land

The exposed paddle must be soldered to a thermal land on the PCB — without that thermal path, the 1.5A continuous output will drive the junction temperature above the 85°C ambient rating.

Frequently asked questions

What is the closest functional second-source for ISL8009AIRZ-T?

The RAA2116054GP3#JA0 is a lower-current sibling (0.5A output, no synchronous rectifier). It is not a pin-compatible or parametric drop-in — the ISL8009AIRZ-T carries 1.5A output and synchronous rectification, so a board designed around the peer would need a layout change to use this part.
