Dual 3A buck in a 5x5 QFN — what it means for your power rail layout
The Renesas ISL78208ARZ-T7A is a dual-channel, adjustable step-down (buck) regulator that delivers 3 A per output from a 4.5 V to 28 V input bus. Two independent converters in a single 32-QFN (5x5 mm) package shrink the footprint of a two-rail point-of-load supply.
Switching frequency — inductor size vs. efficiency trade-off
The 300 kHz to 2 MHz switching range is a design lever. At the low end you get better efficiency but need a physically larger inductor. At 2 MHz the inductor shrinks to a smaller footprint, useful when board area is tight.
