Half-bridge driver for synchronous buck converters
The Renesas ISL6622CBZ-T is a dual-channel, half-bridge gate driver designed to drive a pair of N-channel MOSFETs in a synchronous buck topology. It delivers 1.25A peak source current and 2A peak sink current, enough to charge and discharge the gate capacitance of medium-power MOSFETs used in voltage-regulator modules for servers, telecom rectifiers, and base-station power supplies. The supply range of 6.8V to 13.2V covers standard 12V bias rails and 5V-derived boosted supplies, and the bootstrap pin supports a high-side voltage up to 36V, giving headroom for output rails in the 12V to 24V range. Rise and fall times are 26 ns and 18 ns respectively.
Package and temperature grade — what they mean for the BOM
Housed in an 8-SOIC (3.90 mm width) package, the ISL6622CBZ-T uses a standard, widely available footprint. No exposed thermal pad — dissipation relies on the copper area on the PCB. The operating junction temperature range is 0°C to 125°C, which suits commercial and industrial environments such as indoor telecom cabinets, data-center PSUs, and industrial control chassis. It is not rated for automotive under-hood or extended cold environments. The part is ROHS3 compliant.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
That means no LTB risk for new designs, and the part should remain available through franchised and independent distribution for the foreseeable future.
