Half-bridge driver for synchronous buck converters
The Renesas ISL6622CBZ-T is a dual-channel, half-bridge gate driver designed to drive a pair of N-channel MOSFETs in a synchronous buck topology. It delivers 1.25A peak source current and 2A peak sink current, enough to charge and discharge the gate capacitance of medium-power MOSFETs used in voltage-regulator modules for servers, telecom rectifiers, and base-station power supplies. The supply range of 6.8V to 13.2V covers standard 12V bias rails and 5V-derived boosted supplies, and the bootstrap pin supports a high-side voltage up to 36V, giving headroom for output rails in the 12V to 24V range. Rise and fall times are 26 ns and 18 ns respectively.
Housed in an 8-SOIC (3.90 mm width) package, the ISL6622CBZ-T uses a standard, widely available footprint. No exposed thermal pad — dissipation relies on the copper area on the PCB. The part is ROHS3 compliant.
