N+1 ORing controller for redundant power rails
The ISL6146BFRZ-T7A is an N+1 ORing controller from Renesas, designed to drive an external N-Channel MOSFET to create a low-loss ORing path in redundant power systems. It targets N+1 power supplies and telecom/datacom systems where a failed supply must be isolated without dropping the bus. Supply current is 25 µA typical — negligible overhead in an always-on 48 V telecom shelf. The 65 ns off-delay means the MOSFET gate is pulled down fast when the input rail droops, preventing reverse current from the good rail into the failing one. Operating from 3V to 20V, it covers common backplane rails (3.3V, 5V, 12V, 24V). No internal switch — the external N-Channel FET is selected by the designer for the load current and Rds(on) target.
Cut tape is also available for prototype or low-volume builds.
The wide range also covers under-hood automotive auxiliary power systems if the rest of the BOM is rated for it.
ROHS3 compliant.
