Inverting buffer for 5V bus isolation
The IDT74FCT2541TQ is an octal inverting buffer/line driver with 3-state outputs, designed for bus-oriented applications in 5V logic systems. It provides eight inverting channels that isolate a data bus when the output enable is deasserted, preventing bus contention during multiplexed operation. The output drive — 15 mA sourcing, 12 mA sinking — is sized for standard TTL/CMOS fan-out, not for driving long backplanes or high-capacitance lines.
5V supply with tight tolerance
It will not run at 3.3 V or tolerate the wider swings of an unregulated supply. If your board has a legacy 5 V bus running at 4.5 V under load, this buffer will drop out — budget a proper regulator.
Commercial temperature only
Not for outdoor telecom cabinets, engine bays, or industrial floor controllers. If your design sees -20°C or +85°C, look at the FCT family's industrial temperature variants.
RoHS non-compliance — plan for it
If your BOM requires RoHS, this buffer is not a fit unless you have a waiver. The lead-bearing finish may also affect soldering profiles — expect a higher melting-point solder joint and verify compatibility with your reflow process.
