SPI flash for industrial data logging
The AT45DB321E-MWHF-Y is a 32 Mbit non-volatile FLASH memory from Renesas, organized as 528 bytes per page across 8192 pages. It communicates over an SPI bus at up to 85 MHz, which sets the throughput ceiling for read operations — useful when the host MCU fetches code or logs sensor data without stalling.
Write cycle timing and page erase budget
Page write completes in 4 ms typical, and a byte/word write takes 8 µs. For a system that logs 528-byte pages at intervals, the 4 ms write time means the host can burst a page and move on without long waits. The 8 µs word write matters if the application does byte-level patching in a buffer — less common, but the spec is there if you need it.
The exposed paddle is the primary thermal path; without a solid via array under it, the junction temperature rises faster under sustained write cycles.
