Bus buffer for 5V backplanes
The 74FCT244CTSOG is a non-inverting buffer with 3-state outputs from Renesas Electronics' 74FCT series, built for 5V backplane and memory-address bus buffering. Two elements each handle four bits, giving eight channels total in a single 20-SOIC package.
Drive strength and output control
Output drive is rated 15 mA source and 64 mA sink per channel — the 64 mA sink handles TTL fan-out to multiple loads on a shared bus without external line drivers. The 3-state control lets multiple buffers share the same data lines; outputs go high-impedance when the enable is deasserted, preventing bus contention.
Package and board integration
Surface-mount assembly with no exposed pad — standard reflow profile applies, no special thermal management needed.
