Core architecture and integrated I/O
The MPC8315VRADDA is a PowerQUICC II Pro communications processor built around a single PowerPC e300c3 core running at 266 MHz, 32-bit bus width. It targets control-plane and data-plane processing in networking, industrial, and storage equipment where a balance of performance and peripheral integration is required. On-chip interfaces include dual USB 2.0 ports with integrated PHY, dual SATA 3 Gbps channels, and dual Gigabit Ethernet MACs (10/100/1000 Mbps). This level of integration eliminates external PHYs and bridge chips for common connectivity, reducing BOM count and board area. Additional interfaces cover DUART, I²C, PCI, SPI, and TDM, making it suitable for legacy and modern peripheral attachment in a single design.
Memory and supply voltage flexibility
The integrated memory controller supports both DDR and DDR2 SDRAM, allowing the designer to choose between cost-optimized DDR1 or higher-performance DDR2 depending on the system memory bandwidth target.
Package and thermal management
Operating temperature range is 0°C to 105°C ambient, suitable for commercial and industrial environments but not extended for automotive or high-temp industrial applications.
