1Kbit EEPROM with a simple serial interface
The Microchip 93LC46BT/SN is a 1Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 64 words of 16 bits each, accessed through a Microwire (3-wire) synchronous interface. This part is housed in an 8-pin SOIC package (0.154" width, 3.90 mm body) and is offered on Tape & Reel for automated assembly.
The 2 MHz clock rate is the maximum for the Microwire interface. At this speed a full 16-bit read or write completes in about 8 µs plus the 6 ms write cycle (which is internal and does not tie up the bus). For storing calibration constants, serial numbers, or small configuration tables that are read at power-up and written infrequently, the throughput is adequate. If you need to stream data or poll the part faster than a few hundred reads per second, a higher-speed SPI EEPROM would be a better fit.
Active lifecycle — no EOL concern for new designs
It is ROHS3 compliant.
If your design must survive -40°C cold starts or +85°C enclosures, look at the industrial-temperature siblings (93LC46BT-I/MC or 93LC46BXT-I/SN) which cover -40°C to 85°C.
