1 Kbit I²C EEPROM for small parameter storage
The Microchip 24AA01-I/P is a 1 Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 128 x 8 bits, communicating over an I²C bus at up to 400 kHz. The through-hole 8-DIP package (0.300" width) is breadboard-friendly and common in low-volume or wave-solder production runs.
Access time and bus timing margin
At 400 kHz (2.5 µs per bit), this is well within the bus timing budget, but if you're pushing the I²C bus near its capacitive load limit or using a slow MCU I²C peripheral, the 3500 ns figure gives you less slack than newer parts like the AT24C01C-PUM (550 ns). For most designs the margin is adequate, but check your setup time if the bus has multiple slaves or long traces.
Write cycle time and page write
For infrequent parameter updates it is not a concern.
The 8-DIP (0.300", 7.62 mm) through-hole package is supplied in tube. The supplier device package is 8-PDIP. This is a breadboard- and socket-friendly form factor, also used in legacy or low-volume production where wave soldering is preferred over reflow. For surface-mount designs, consider the 24AA01-I/SN (SOIC-8) or 24LC01BHT-I/MNY (surface-mount) variants.
