The Microchip 93LC46B/SN is a 1Kbit serial EEPROM using a Microwire interface, organized as 64 words by 16 bits. This is a small, non-volatile memory for storing calibration constants, serial numbers, configuration data, or small lookup tables in embedded systems that already have a Microwire-capable controller.
At 2 MHz, a 16-bit word read completes in under 10 µs, and a write cycle (including the internal erase/write) takes 6 ms per word or page. That 6 ms write time is the dominant latency — the clock rate matters for sequential reads, not for write throughput. If your application streams data faster than one word every 6 ms, this part will bottleneck; for occasional parameter storage it is fine.
