Ethernet controller in a 352-ball BGA — what you're getting
The GCIXF440AC is an 8-channel LAN controller running Ethernet protocol, housed in a 352-BGA package. It operates from a 3V to 3.6V supply rail and draws 830 mA typical.
Package and mounting
The 352-ball BGA has significant thermal mass. Preheat the board before reflow to avoid pad lifting.
RoHS non-compliant — plan for it
This part is marked RoHS non-compliant. If your BOM requires RoHS exemption documentation, the GCIXF440AC won't pass without a waiver.
Second-source landscape
The S82425EX is a Bulk-shipped controller with a PCI bus interface — same functional class, different protocol and bus. The P82C088 and P82C37A5 are DRAM and DMA controllers respectively, also in Bulk, but with 4.5–4.75 V supply rails and 0°C–70°C temperature range. None of these are pin-compatible or a drop-in replacement for the GCIXF440AC. If you need a functional equivalent, you'll need to evaluate the system-level bus and protocol match — Ethernet vs PCI vs DRAM control is not a trivial swap.
