Active 256Kbit asynchronous SRAM for cache and buffer duty
The CY7C1399BN-12VXIT is an active-production asynchronous SRAM from Infineon, organized 32K x 8 for 256Kbit total storage. Its 12 ns access time and 12 ns write cycle mean the part keeps pace with a 50 MHz bus without wait states — the limiting factor is the controller's own output hold time, not the memory's read cycle. Supply range is 3V to 3.6V, which maps cleanly onto a 3.3V rail with 300 mV of headroom on either side — no external regulator needed if the board already runs a 3.3V plane.
28-SOJ footprint and tape-and-reel packaging
Housed in a 28-SOJ (0.300-inch body width, 7.62 mm), the part uses a J-bend lead form that self-aligns during reflow and provides a smaller footprint than a SOIC of the same pin count. Supplied on Tape & Reel (TR) with Cut Tape (CT) option — the reel quantity suits medium-to-high-volume pick-and-place; the cut tape works for prototype builds or small-batch production runs.
