Hold current and trip threshold for the BOM line
The 0ZCJ0200FF2C is a polymeric PTC resettable fuse from Bel Fuse's 0ZCJ series, rated for a 2 A hold current (Ih) and a 3.5 A trip current (It). At 25 °C ambient, the device will pass 2 A continuously without tripping; once the fault current exceeds 3.5 A, the internal polymer heats and transitions to a high-resistance state, limiting the circuit current to a leakage level. The time to trip at 25 °C is 1.5 s at the rated fault current — fast enough to protect downstream silicon from sustained overcurrent events without nuisance tripping on inrush.
Voltage and fault current ceiling
Maximum voltage is 6 V, and the device can interrupt fault currents up to 100 A. This combination suits low-voltage power rails — USB VBUS, battery protection, or 5 V supply lines — where a short-circuit can dump tens of amps from a low-impedance source. The 100 A max rating ensures the PTC withstands the full fault current without rupturing the package.
Automotive-grade qualification and approvals
Rated AEC-Q200, this PTC is qualified for automotive electronics — the stress tests (thermal shock, moisture resistance, vibration) match the under-hood or cabin-environment reliability requirements. Additional approvals include cURus and TUV, covering North American and European equipment safety standards.
The concave termination profile allows visual solder-joint inspection after reflow. Initial resistance is 18 mOhms minimum; post-trip resistance rises to 80 mOhms maximum — the low cold resistance minimises I²R loss at 2 A, while the post-trip resistance ensures the device latches in the high-resistance state until power is cycled.
