Hold current and trip threshold
The 0ZCJ0150FF2C is a polymeric PTC resettable fuse from Bel Fuse's 0ZCJ series, designed to protect circuits by switching from low resistance to high resistance when an overcurrent event exceeds the trip threshold. Its 1.5 A hold current (Ih) defines the maximum steady-state current it can carry continuously at 25°C without tripping — useful for power rails, USB ports, or actuator drivers that see nominal loads around 1 A to 1.2 A with occasional peaks. The trip current (It) is 3 A, meaning the device will start to heat up and increase resistance once the load current exceeds roughly twice the hold rating. The time to trip at 5× Ih is 1 second — fast enough to protect downstream components from sustained overcurrent without nuisance tripping on inrush spikes that last tens of milliseconds.

This PTC carries AEC-Q200 qualification, the passive-component stress-test standard for automotive electronics. Additional approvals from cURus and TUV confirm acceptance in North American and European markets for equipment-level safety certification.
Package and board-fit details
The concave solder pads improve wetting and reduce tombstoning during reflow — a common issue with flat-chip PTCs on high-speed pick-and-place lines. The package is supplied on tape and reel or cut tape, compatible with standard 8 mm carrier tape pitch for automated assembly. Maximum interrupt current is 100 A at 8 VDC, meaning the PTC can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without arcing or rupturing the package. The initial resistance (Ri) is 40 mΩ minimum, rising to 120 mΩ maximum after tripping (R1) — the post-trip resistance is higher because the polymer lattice has expanded and takes time to cool and re-crystallize.
