Phantom Time Chip with integrated NVSRAM
The DS1244Y-70+ from Analog Devices is a Phantom Time Chip that combines a real-time clock (RTC) with 32KB of non-volatile SRAM in a single 28-pin DIP module. The parallel interface provides direct read/write access to both the clock registers and the NVSRAM array, simplifying the memory map for embedded systems that need a unified timekeeping and data-storage block. It tracks time in YY-MM-DD-dd date format and HH:MM:SS:hh time format with 12/24-hour select, and includes leap-year compensation and a built-in NVSRAM controller that automatically stores the clock data on power loss.
Supply, current, and temperature envelope
Operates from a 4.5V to 5.5V supply rail, drawing a maximum of 10mA in timekeeping mode at 5V — the current budget is dominated by the NVSRAM standby and the clock oscillator, so a 5V system with a 50mA regulator has ample headroom for the chip alone.
Supplied in tube packaging, suitable for hand-assembly or low-to-medium volume pick-and-place with through-hole compatible feeders.
