RS232 transceiver in 28-SSOP
The ADM560JRSZ-REEL is a full-duplex RS232 transceiver from Analog Devices, packing 4 drivers and 5 receivers into a 28-SSOP package with a 0.209-inch body width and 5.30 mm seated height. That 4/5 split means it handles four transmit lines and five receive lines — useful when your serial port needs more inputs than outputs, like in a multi-drop or modem-control setup. Data rate is 116 Kbps, enough for standard RS232 communication at typical baud rates up to 115200. The 300 mV receiver hysteresis cleans up noise on longer cable runs, so you get cleaner signal edges without external filtering.
28-SSOP (0.209-inch, 5.30 mm width) with a standard 0.65 mm pitch. The narrow body saves board space but demands careful soldering — the fine pitch means a good stencil aperture and reflow profile are key to avoid bridges. Pin 1 is marked with a dot on the package top; orientation is clear under a scope. Surface-mount only — no through-hole variant. The tape-and-reel option (ADM560JRSZ-REEL) is cut-tape compatible for small batches, but the reel is the production-friendly format for pick-and-place.
No pin-compatible second source or official successor listed.
