RS232 transceiver with 120kbps and 4/5 driver/receiver ratio
The ADM223ARS is an RS232 transceiver from Analog Devices, supporting full-duplex communication at a data rate of 120kbps. It integrates four drivers and five receivers, making it suitable for multi-channel serial links in industrial or instrumentation equipment where the RS232 port count exceeds the typical two-pair UART.
Supply voltage and temperature grade
Operates from a single 4.75V to 5.25V supply, which is the standard 5V rail found in legacy and current embedded systems. Receiver hysteresis is specified at 250 mV, which provides noise immunity on the RS232 bus lines — useful when the cable run picks up coupled interference from nearby switching supplies or motor drives.
Package and board-fit
The 0.65 mm pitch requires a standard fine-pitch solder profile; the supplier device package is 28-SSOP, so the PCB footprint matches the common SSOP-28 land pattern used across the ADM211/213 family. Supplied in bulk tube — not tape-and-reel — so it is suited for prototype builds or low-volume production where pick-and-place feeders are not required.
