Product details

14-bit multiplying DAC in 20-PLCC

The AD7534JP-REEL is a 14-bit multiplying digital-to-analog converter from Analog Devices, housed in a 20-lead PLCC (J-Lead) package. It accepts a 14-bit digital word and outputs an analog voltage proportional to the product of the reference voltage and the digital code — the multiplying architecture means the reference can be an AC signal, not just a DC level, making it useful in digitally controlled attenuators and waveform generators. The 14-bit resolution gives 16,384 output steps, so the smallest voltage increment is 1/16384 of the full-scale range. For a 10 V reference, that is about 610 µV per LSB — fine enough for precision control loops or audio-level setting.

The 20-PLCC (9x9 mm) body with J-leads sits flush on the PCB — the leads bend under the package, so the footprint is a square of pads, not through-holes. The 1.27 mm pitch is standard for PLCC sockets or direct solder; a 20-pin PLCC socket mates with the same land pattern if field replacement is planned. Surface-mount assembly with J-leads means the solder joint is on the bottom side of the lead — inspect the fillet height under the package after reflow; a low fillet indicates insufficient paste or poor wetting.
