Quad 20k digital pot with I2C/SPI and 256 taps
The AD5263BRUZ20 is a quad-channel digital potentiometer from Analog Devices, offering four independent 20 kOhm pots in a single 24-TSSOP package. Each channel provides 256 tap positions with a linear taper, controlled via a selectable I2C or SPI serial interface. The wide supply range — 4.5 V to 16.5 V single supply, or ±4.5 V to ±7.5 V dual supply — lets it sit in both single-rail and split-rail analog signal chains without an extra regulator.
Parametric depth: wiper resistance, tempco, and tolerance
Wiper resistance is a typical 60 ohms — low enough that it does not dominate the end-to-end resistance in most divider or gain-setting applications, but worth budgeting into the voltage-divider ratio at the low end of the pot range. Temperature coefficient is 30 ppm/°C typical, which keeps the resistance drift under 0.6 ohms per °C at the 20 k setting — negligible for gain trim or offset adjust loops that run closed-loop. The ±30% absolute resistance tolerance is typical for digital pots; the ratiometric accuracy between taps is much tighter, so the part is best used as a voltage divider or programmable resistor where the absolute value is trimmed out at calibration.
Cascade pin and selectable address for multi-device chains
A cascade pin allows multiple AD5263 devices to be daisy-chained on the same SPI bus, extending the channel count without consuming extra chip selects. The selectable address feature lets up to four devices share a single I2C bus by setting the address pins. Memory type is volatile — the wiper position resets to midscale on power-up and must be reloaded after each power cycle. For applications that need non-volatile storage of the wiper setting, an external EEPROM or a non-volatile digital pot from the same family is the migration path.
Active lifecycle and ROHS3 compliance
ROHS3 compliant, it meets the current EU restriction levels for lead, mercury, cadmium, and the four phthalates. Supplied in tubes (50 per tube per the standard TSSOP-24 tube quantity), the part is also available in tape-and-reel under a different order code — confirm the reel option if pick-and-place volume is the target.
