Dual NPN with integrated bias resistors — what it saves on the board
The Toshiba RN1702,LF packs two NPN pre-biased transistors in a single USV package, each with 10kΩ base and emitter resistors built in. That eliminates two resistor placements per channel from the pick-and-place bill — a clean trade when you need a handful of low-side switches or logic-level interface buffers and want to shrink the component count on a dense SMT board. Collector current is rated 100 mA maximum with a 50 V Vce breakdown, so this part handles relay coils, small solenoid valves, and LED strings within that load envelope. Saturation voltage is specified at 300 mV at 250 µA base current into 5 mA collector current, so the on-state drop stays predictable for low-voltage rails. The 500 nA collector cutoff maximum keeps leakage negligible at elevated temperatures.
Package and footprint — USV (SOT-353) on a 5-pin land pattern
The RN1702,LF comes in a 5-pin USV package, which maps to the common SOT-353 / SC-70-5 footprint. Surface-mount only, so it suits automated assembly lines. The LF suffix confirms ROHS3 compliance, no lead in the finish.
