Product details

Dual 4-input NAND in a rework-friendly DIP

The Texas Instruments 74F20PC is a dual 4-input NAND gate in a 14-pin DIP package — two independent gates, each with four inputs, on one chip. It belongs to the 74F series, a fast TTL family that balances speed and power for through-hole logic designs.

Speed and drive for the 5V bus

The output can source 1 mA and sink 20 mA — enough to drive a few TTL loads or a short backplane trace, but not a 50-ohm terminated line. Quiescent current maxes at 5.1 mA per chip — negligible in a multi-gate board, but worth noting if the rail is shared with analog circuits.

Through-hole build — no hot-air heroics needed

The 14-DIP (0.300" body width) with 0.100" pin spacing is a hand-solder dream. No thermal pad, no hidden leads — just seven pins per side that wave-solder or hand-solder cleanly. Pin 1 is clearly marked by the notch and dot on the body. The package bulk ships loose in a tube or bag, not on a reel.

Active production — compliance note

The RoHS status is non-compliant — this is the legacy tin-lead finish, which matters for builds that still require leaded solder per MIL-STD or medical exemptions.
