Hermetic op-amp for harsh environments
The 5962-9321601QPA is a single-channel general-purpose op-amp from the Excalibur™ family, packaged in a hermetic 8-CDIP ceramic DIP. It delivers a 5.9 MHz gain-bandwidth product and a 45 V/µs slew rate, with rail-to-rail output swing.
Survives the hot air — rework notes on the 8-CDIP
The 8-CDIP (0.300", 7.62 mm) ceramic package is through-hole mounted and built to take repeated rework cycles. No plastic body to soften, no moisture sensitivity level to track. The ceramic body and glass-to-metal seals hold up under hot-air desoldering — just preheat the board to 100°C before pulling the part to avoid thermal shock cracking the die attach.
No need to qualify a substitute for legacy BOM lines.
The 5.9 MHz gain-bandwidth product and 45 V/µs slew rate let this op-amp handle fast-settling analog signals up to several hundred kilohertz without significant phase lag — useful for anti-aliasing filters, DAC output buffers, or high-speed comparator front ends. Input offset voltage is 225 µV typical, and input bias current is 800 nA, so it is not a precision JFET-input part; for sub-millivolt DC accuracy or picoamp-level source impedance, a JFET or CMOS op-amp would be a better fit. Supply range spans 4 V to 44 V, which covers standard ±15 V and single 5 V to 28 V rails. Output can sink or source 50 mA, enough to drive a twisted-pair cable or a small relay coil directly.
