25 ns trr — where fast recovery matters
That trr puts it in the class for continuous-current-mode (CCM) boost PFC stages, output rectification in LLC resonant converters, and freewheeling diodes in hard-switched bridges where reverse-recovery losses would otherwise dominate the switching loss budget. Each diode in the common-cathode pair carries 8 A average rectified current. At 5 A forward current the typical forward drop is 1.1 V — conduction loss per diode at 5 A is about 5.5 W, which the TO-220 package can dissipate with a heatsink. The 175 °C maximum junction temperature gives thermal margin for high-ambient or forced-air designs.
TO-220 footprint and mounting
Through-hole TO-220-3 with the standard 2.54 mm pitch — mates with existing PCB layouts for common-cathode dual diodes. The metal tab is the common cathode; the two anode pins are the outer leads. A heatsink with a TO-220 clip or screw mount is expected for continuous operation above a few amps. The STTH1002CFP is the same die in a TO-220FPAC full-pack (fully isolated) package — electrically identical but with no exposed metal tab. If the design requires isolated mounting without a heatsink pad, the CFP variant drops in without rewiring; the tab is overmoulded plastic.
