The STM32L4S5ZIT6: The 640 KB SRAM gives room for a full RTOS heap plus multiple large data buffers — enough for a dual-channel audio stream or a TCP/IP stack with jumbo frames, without external RAM. 115 GPIOs in a 144-LQFP package mean you can drive a parallel TFT display, an external memory bus, and a dozen sensors without multiplexing — the 20x20 mm body is hand-reworkable with hot air and a fine tip, and pin 1 is clearly marked on the top-side silkscreen.
On-chip brown-out detect, POR, and watchdog eliminate external supervisor ICs for basic reset and monitoring — saves two or three passive components and a supervisor part number from the BOM.
