The STM32L496RET6: The Cortex-M4 core includes a single-precision floating-point unit (FPU) and DSP instructions, making it suited for signal-conditioning loops, sensor fusion, and control algorithms that benefit from hardware-accelerated math.
Supply voltage and temperature grade
With the internal oscillator on chip, the MCU can start up without an external crystal, saving two pins and a pair of load capacitors on the PCB.
Peripheral set and connectivity
The device includes 52 general-purpose I/O lines, a 12-bit ADC with 16 channels, and two 12-bit DAC channels, covering most analog sensor and actuator interfaces without external converters. Connectivity options include CANbus, USB OTG, multiple I²C and SPI buses, a Quad-SPI interface for external flash, and SAI for digital audio. An integrated LCD driver can directly control segment displays, reducing the component count in human-machine interface panels. On-chip peripherals such as DMA, PWM timers, and a watchdog timer offload the core from repetitive tasks and improve system reliability.
