180 MHz Cortex-M4 with 2 MB Flash — the display-capable workhorse
The STM32F429ZIY6JTR: Twenty-four 12-bit ADC channels and two 12-bit DAC channels cover analog acquisition and output. Housed in a 143-ball WLCSP measuring 4.52 x 5.55 mm, this is a fine-pitch wafer-level chip-scale package intended for space-constrained designs where board real estate is at a premium.
Any remaining stock in the independent distribution channel is finite and being consumed. For sustainment programs already using this MCU, the procurement path is the surplus and broker market.
114 I/Os and the WLCSP footprint — board-level considerations
With 114 general-purpose I/Os brought out on a 143-ball WLCSP, every ball carries a signal — there are no NC balls to simplify routing. The 0.4 mm pitch (typical for this package class) requires a high-density PCB process with microvias and a controlled impedance stackup if the Ethernet or USB differential pairs are used. Brown-out detect and POR are integrated, so no external supervisor is needed for basic reset functionality. The internal oscillator means the part can run without an external crystal for non-timing-critical applications, though the Ethernet and USB PHY interfaces will require an external clock source.
