What the 72 MHz and Cortex-M4 mean for the BOM
The Cortex-M4 core with DSP and single-cycle MAC instructions handles sensor fusion, field-oriented motor control, and digital power loops without an external DSP or FPGA. The 72 MHz clock is fast enough for most real-time control loops in industrial drives and inverter stages, but the 64 KB Flash limits firmware size — expect to fit a moderate application stack and leave room for OTA updates if you compress the image. The 16 KB SRAM is tight for large data buffers; offload logging to external SPI Flash if needed.
Built-in ADC and DAC — analog integration
Eight 12-bit ADC channels and one 12-bit DAC are on-chip, which reduces external analog front-end components for multi-sensor acquisition and analog output generation. The ADC samples at rates suitable for current sensing in motor drives, and the DAC can serve as a reference or setpoint generator. No external op-amp buffer is needed for the DAC output if the load impedance is above 10 kΩ.

The internal oscillator is available, though an external crystal improves clock accuracy for CAN or USB applications (note: no USB peripheral is listed in the connectivity set).
