1.2 kV, 30 A — where this standard recovery diode fits
The STMicroelectronics STBR3012G2-TR is a standard recovery diode rated for 1200 V reverse voltage and 30 A average rectified current, housed in a D2PAK HV surface-mount package. Standard recovery (>500 ns) means this part is designed for line-frequency rectification — think input bridge rectifiers in mains-powered supplies, PFC boost stages, and motor drive DC bus circuits — not for fast-switching converters where a fast or ultrafast recovery diode would be needed.
Forward drop and thermal budget
At 30 A forward current the maximum forward voltage is 1.3 V. Reverse leakage is 2 µA at 1200 V.
Package and mounting — D2PAK HV
The TO-263-3 (D²Pak) package with the high-voltage (HV) variant adds creepage distance between the tab and the leads — critical for 1200 V operation where standard D2PAK clearance might flash over. Surface-mount assembly; the tab is the anode connection and carries the full 30 A, so the PCB footprint needs a large copper pour and adequate solder fillet on the tab.
ROHS3 compliant and part of the ECOPACK®2 series, so it meets current environmental directives for lead-free assembly.
